dRMM selected to lead new vision for Regent’s Park Estate North
Regents Park Estate North showing Coniston (front) and Langdale
We’re extremely pleased to announce that we’re working with Camden Council, as part of its Community Investment Programme (CIP), on a new vision for Regents Park Estate North.
dRMM has been appointed to lead a multi-disciplinary design team which includes local architects vPPR, who bring their extensive experience in the area including proposals for the Camden Highline and their work at Camden Market.
Inspired by Camden’s proud, rebellious spirit, our vision is to reimagine Regents Park Estate North (RPEN) as a socially inclusive, landscape-rich and low‑carbon neighbourhood. High‑quality affordable homes, generous green spaces and improved connections to Euston can come together to create long-term social value and a legacy for current and future residents.
The team are developing a masterplan for the site which currently comprises three residential blocks, a children’s centre and a low-rise commercial parade. Consultation will build on the engagement work already undertaken and respond to the needs of residents in and around the estate and the wider Euston area. The project is at an early stage, but the emerging brief has the potential to deliver more than 500 homes across affordable, social and market tenures, a new Children’s Centre and Family Centre and flexible commercial space. Active frontages will help to enhance community safety, provide a clear definition between public and private spaces and improvements to wayfinding and access to Regents Park.
The RPEN redevelopment is being kickstarted with support from the Euston Housing Delivery Group, set up by the Ministry for Communities, Housing and Local Government to unlock new housing in the Euston Area. Regents Park Estate is identified as a site allocation in the Euston Area Plan, Camden’s overarching planning framework for the Euston area, to provide new and replacement homes.
It’s recognised that the proximity of HS2 works around Euston Station has had an unacceptable impact on living conditions and daily disruption to residents in Cartmel, Coniston and Langdale with these buildings now mostly vacated. With this is in mind, we will be consulting on design plans for the future of this area and a hybrid planning application is targeted for submission towards the end of 2026 with an initial detailed phase of 110 homes.
