Drawings are essential to the design process, but sometimes you just have to test things at 1:1. To work out the eight different blends of bricks that make up the gradient façade of Trafalgar Place, we laid out the bricks in our old yard; an elevation folded onto the floor.
The team moved bricks around until the blending looked perfect and the whole studio got involved to choose the right stock. Seeing the gradient of the building at real scale enabled us to make the right design choices as well as getting some killer photos of brick-climbing superheroes.
