Overview

This is a varied role requiring adaptability and flexibility. Tasks range from assisting with the hands-on running of the studio, through to general administrative and director-level support.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate resourcefulness, common sense, and a positive energy. They will need to be able to follow instructions and take their own initiative, depending on the task at hand.

It is envisioned that this will be a part-time role (approx. 20 hours per week) with potential for it to be full-time for the right candidate. Working pattern will be discussed further at the interview. The position is offered initially for a fixed six-month period, with a view to extending thereafter.

Duties

IT:

  • Liaising with our external IT service providers to process open tickets and follow up stalled tickets
  • Assistance with IT project work and new system implementation
  • Assisting with the installation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including moving equipment around the studio
  • Basic ICT troubleshooting
  • Helping manage stocks of ICT equipment, consumables, and other supplies

 

Admin:

  • Reception duties, including managing incoming phone calls/emails/post, booking transport and couriers, and greeting guests and visitors to the studio
  • Assistance with meeting set up, refreshments and tidy up
  • Monitoring general studio email accounts and taking action as necessary
  • Stock control of print and stationery supplies
  • General administrative assistance to studio

 

Facilities:

  • Frequent walk rounds of the studio to replenish supplies and ensure general tidiness
  • Ensuring walkways/circulation routes are kept free of obstructions
  • Assisting to reconfigure the office layout to better suit the needs of the practice
  • Helping to keep the kitchen and other communal spaces safe and tidy
  • Stock control of kitchen, toilets and workshop supplies

 

Other:

  • Attend and engage in internal social activities such as pin-ups, forums, and other studio events

Desired skills and experience 

  • Understanding of computer hardware/components
  • Awareness of CAD software used in architecture
  • Clear and polite phone manner
  • Good communication skills
  • Proactive and logical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to manage several tasks concurrently
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Strong common sense
  • Good timekeeping

There is a requirement for the post holder to recognise this and adopt a flexible approach to work.

Please note: This is a junior administrative position. Architectural training/experience is not required.  Permission to work in the UK is essential.

Salary: dRMM salary band 1 (£23,100 – £26,800, pro-rated) according to skills and experience.
