After four years of public consultation, a Hybrid Planning Application for the Earls Court Site has been submitted to the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC) and the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF).
Read about dRMM’s work in Earls Court.
The Site, located within the wider Earl’s Court and West Kensington Opportunity Area (London Plan 2021) occupies an area of approximately 18 hectares. The Earls Court Development Company will provide residential dwellings, purpose-built student accommodation, assisted living, workspace, culture, community, retail and leisure facilities alongside high quality public realm and open spaces. With an ambition to be a global exemplar of sustainable development, it will be a neighbourhood designed for all stages of life and a landscape-led development.
The overall masterplan is led by Hawkins Brown and Studio Egret West, with SLA as the landscape architects, whilst dRMM’s plots are led by Sheppard Robson working with us and Serie Architects. As part of the first phase of work located in Hammersmith and Fulham, we’re designing a permanent home for the existing temporary community hub, with potential café and other flexible spaces, as well as two residential buildings: a 16-storey building and a nine-storey mansion block. Both classed as affordable housing, they are intended for social rent and shared ownership respectively. Our designs are inspired by the Art Deco nature of the original Earls Court Exhibition Centre.
Work on this first phase is planned to start on site in 2026.
