The New London Architecture Awards celebrate the people, places and projects shaping a better London. We’re delighted that this year WorkStack was voted best Industrial & Logistics project, while Wick Lane, won the Mixed-Use category.
WorkStack’s light industrial studios sit comfortably across the road from a residential area. The judges called it an “innovative model for compact, high-density industrial space, sustainably constructed from engineered timber. It offers affordable and adaptable workspace, designed for future generations.”
Wick Lane resolves the challenges that come from co-locating functions that initially seem environmentally at odds – industry with housing. The judges noted that the scheme “combines industrial and residential uses in a thoughtful, well considered design. It improves local access and connects the surrounding neighbourhood, bringing a strong sense of community through shared spaces.”
Together these projects advance the boundaries of designing for the complex realities of major cities such as London. Creative industries and small businesses need affordable space within the city and we’re pleased that WorkStack and Wick Lane both contribute towards meeting that need.
