The People’s Pavilion is an award-winning, youth focused, design competition open to East Londoners aged 14-18. The programme offers young people the opportunity to gain skills in design, build and cultural production by working alongside design studios and leading industry figures to gain hands on experience.
dRMM are proud to be supporting this year’s edition of the programme following our work at Tustin Estate with Beyond the Box Consultants CIC who lead People’s Pavilion in collaboration with Scale Rule CIC and youth collective Re-fabricate. The programme invites young people from across the seven boroughs of East London to enter stage 1 of the competition, which consists of a two-day workshop hosted in each borough.
Workshop participants will be guided in developing their early competition concepts through model making and drawing to test ideas, leading to a presentation of designs to a panel of designers at the end of the weekend. After each weekend workshop, a shortlisted team will be chosen, meaning seven teams will go through to stage 2, which takes place during February 2023.
We are looking forward to partnering with young people to help them develop their designs as the project progresses.

“dRMM are thrilled to be a headline sponsor of the People’s Pavilion. As a studio we have always sought to create socially useful architecture that sparks joy and this programme is perfectly aligned with that, widening inclusion and igniting inspiration in the next generation of city makers”.
