The masterplan for Better Queensway includes up to 1760 new homes and up to 10,000m2 of commercial space with employment space for start-up businesses and the creative industries. Helping to meet the needs of affordable housing in Southend-on-Sea, Better Queensway will deliver at least 512 genuinely affordable homes, comprising of 300 homes for social rent and 212 shared ownership homes. Quality of life is embedded throughout the design and every home has its own outdoor space in the form of a balcony, terrace or garden.

dRMM and LDA Design are united in their approach to creating sustainable public places designed to serve local communities. The masterplan for Better Queensway prioritises public realm and addresses issues of pedestrian connectivity across the site. A network of six new public spaces, all unique in character, connect the scheme to the existing neighbourhoods, creating opportunities for exchange among the local community. This enhanced public realm will include an urban park, 190 new trees and 1,400 metres of new cycle paths.
