Lendlease submits plans for Birmingham Smithfield project
Designs for a landmark scheme that will regenerate Birmingham Smithfield have been submitted to the City Council, following an extensive consultation on the designs which propose a vibrant new future for the city.
This once in a generation opportunity has the potential to reshape Birmingham’s city centre. The plans outline ambitions to make Birmingham a new business hub where organisations can grow their networks and ideas. The masterplan creates a workspace campus of over one million square feet, featuring a range of workplaces designed to foster partnerships and knowledge sharing.
Designed for health and wellbeing and a post-Covid, low-carbon future, the development will ensure Birmingham continues to grow, whilst retaining its best talent and ideas, as well as attracting new businesses to the city from across the UK.
dRMM are working with Birmingham-based Intervention Architecture, alongside masterplanners Prior + Partners and David Kohn Architects to deliver Plot 1D, a key part of the masterplan, providing a vital new residential quarter.
