‘Measuring mass timber’ milestone

‘Measuring mass timber’ milestone

We have reached a milestone in our ‘Measuring mass timber’ research for Built By Nature into the whole life carbon and quality of life impacts of mass timber buildings.

Having gathered the building assessment data in line with the mixed methodology, the team are gearing up to analyse and benchmark their findings, to be shared in early 2024. The study is drawing upon the expertise of the Quality of Life Foundation and Edinburgh Napier University to synthesise insights of whole life carbon and wellbeing assessments (following BS EN 15978 and BS 40101). With a specific focus on the impact of engineered timber in buildings, evidence from this extensive study aims to support the uptake of sustainably sourced wood products along with an intention to improve the quality of the growing market for engineered timber.
