Regenerative Design at the Building Centre
Regenerative Design 2026 is now open at the Building Centre in London. Presented by Architecture Today, the exhibition showcases projects entering the third year of the Regenerative Architecture Index (RAI).
The month-long programme includes a series of events, including the launch of the updated Architects Declare Regenerative Design Primer. The new chapters offer practical guidance including how to steer conversations with clients and other stakeholders towards more regenerative approaches. The launch brought participants together for an interactive workshop, using the new guidance to explore different approaches to communication and where there might be opportunities to influence decision-making.
Chris Bennett, architect and part of our sustainability review team, joined a group exploring how to assess a project’s impact using a value indicator wheel. The tool considers a range of measures including wellbeing, social impact, circular economy and biodiversity. Building from Forests, dRMM’s entry to the exhibition, was used as one of the example projects on the night, scoring predominantly within the green zone across the indicators which was gratifying!
Associate Jacqueline Wheeler has been an RAI assessor for the past two years following on from her work managing Architects Declare. She spent time over the summer reviewing entries along with her fellow judges, benchmarking progress in the move towards regenerative practice and projects within the UK built environment.
