Birmingham City Council has unanimously approved Lendlease’s regeneration plans for Birmingham Smithfield.
The approval covers individual projects, including dRMM’s mixed-use scheme for Plot 1D on the eastern edge of the Prior and Partners masterplan, as well as for the wider masterplan itself.
Designed with emerging studio, Intervention Architecture, the colourful proposals include 429 homes with flexible retail space and a gym making up the ground floor. Within the vibrant new quarter, Plot 1D provides a mix of one-, two- and three-bed homes in a family-friendly environment. Located on the edge of the new park, there is ample play space, a freestanding pavilion and a resident’s garden at its heart.
Construction is expected to commence on site later in 2024 and the delivery will be completed in four phases over 15 years.
