Construction begins on Farmer Norton

The 240-acre regeneration initiative is centred around the University of Salford and is delivered with them in partnership with ECF and Salford City Council. Delivered in two phases, the scheme initially brings 42 three-storey family townhouses to the former Farmer Norton site. This first phase is made up of six terraces of three-storey townhouses, arranged around pedestrian-friendly communal spaces, gardens and planted areas. 

Farmer Norton is designed around a fabric-first approach and Passivhaus principles, reducing energy demand through highly insulated and airtight building envelopes alongside efficient heating and ventilation systems. Standardised housing typologies support efficient construction and help reduce embodied carbon while maintaining a strong focus on quality and resident comfort. 

Phase One is expected to complete in early 2028, marking the next stage in the delivery of Farmer Norton as part of the wider transformation of the Crescent Salford area.
