WorkStack wins a RIBA London Award

WorkStack wins a RIBA London Award

The project was recognised as “a novel way of conceiving sustainable high-density industrial space, building up rather than out.”

WorkStack is a new model for introducing high density industrial space on compact, urban sites, primarily constructed from engineered timber. Designed to be affordable to rent, operate and maintain, its 14 workshops house a mixture of light industrial and creative uses. Our fantastic client, the not-for-profit social enterprise Greenwich Enterprise Board, runs the workshops at a nearly 100% occupation rate.

The jury noted that “there is a warmth to the units that is unexpected in this type of accommodation. It is not surprising that the building has attracted creative industries, wonderful furniture makers and a bicycle workshop. This design demonstrates a new way of conceiving sustainable high-density industrial buildings that would happily sit in mixed-use areas of the city.”

The win means that WorkStack is now in the running for a RIBA National award; fingers crossed for when they’re announced in July.
